Residential Skylight FAQ's

Yes. Regular inspections and cleaning help extend the life of your skylight and prevent costly repairs.

Leaks, condensation, cracked glazing, faulty flashing, and mechanical issues with vented skylights.

Signs include water stains, drafts, visible cracks, or difficulty opening/closing vented units. We’ll inspect and recommend the most cost‑effective solution

Your property address, skylight location, a brief description of the issue, and photos if possible.

Yes. We provide a workmanship warranty on all installations and repairs, plus manufacturer warranties on skylight products.

Definitely. Skylights reduce the need for artificial lighting and, with the right glazing, can help regulate indoor temperatures.

Not with the right glazing. We offer low‑E, tinted, and UV‑filtering glass options to control heat gain and glare.

Yes. We use industry‑approved flashing kits and sealing methods to ensure a watertight installation.

Yes. We can often replace skylights independently of a full roof replacement, using proper flashing and sealing techniques

Commercial Skylight FAQ's

Yes. Regular inspections and servicing of your skylights and smoke vents, can help extend the life of your skylight and prevent costly repairs to the building envelope and or occupying tenant.

Yes. We provide emergency leak repairs and urgent skylight service to protect your property.

Yes. Our crews are fully trained in fall protection and safety protocols to ensure safe, compliant work on every project.

Fall Protection FAQ's

We specialize in installing, inspecting, and maintaining fall protection systems for skylights. Our goal is to prevent fall‑through accidents while keeping your building compliant with OSHA and local safety codes.

We provide skylight screens, safety cages, guardrail systems, and non‑penetrating covers designed to fit a wide range of skylight types and roof structures

Pricing depends on the number of skylights, type of protection system, and roof conditions. We provide free site assessments and detailed estimates.

Yes. All of our skylight fall protection solutions meet or exceed OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 standards for fall prevention.

OSHA classifies skylights as “roof openings.” Without proper protection, they pose a serious fall hazard. Installing compliant systems protects workers, reduces liability, and ensures your building passes safety inspections.

Smoke Vent Testing FAQ's

It’s a required inspection and functional test of your smoke vent skylights to ensure they open properly, integrate with your fire and life safety system, and meet California fire and building code requirements. Because smoke vents are a critical part of the fire protection strategy for high‑pile storage, they must be tested annually to ensure they open correctly, integrate with alarm systems, and meet temperature‑activation requirements (fusible links must be rated relative to sprinkler activation temperatures).

Properly functioning smoke vents save lives by releasing smoke and heat during a fire. Annual testing ensures your system is reliable, compliant, and ready in an emergency.

Absolutely. We provide detailed test reports, photo documentation, compliance certification, and maintenance records for your files and for fire marshal review.

Yes. If your system fails an inspection or you receive a notice from the fire marshal, we can provide expedited testing and repair.

Minimal disruption. We coordinate with your team to schedule testing at convenient times and ensure safety during the process.

We provide a detailed report and repair options. In many cases, we can perform repairs on the spot to restore compliance.

Yes. We offer annual service agreements that include testing, documentation, and priority scheduling for repairs.

Yes. We provide code‑compliant replacements and upgrades when existing smoke vent skylights can’t be repaired.

Pricing depends on the number of skylights, roof access, and system type. We provide free site assessments and written estimates.

Building address, number of smoke vents, roof ladder access, last inspection date, and whether you have a correction from the fire department.

Absolutely. We can retrofit or replace old skylights with custom units that improve energy efficiency, aesthetics, and performance

Most residential custom skylight installations are completed in 1–2 days. Larger or commercial projects may take longer depending on complexity.

High Pile Storage FAQ's

Storage of combustible materials in racks or piles over 12 feet high (or 6 feet for certain high‑hazard commodities). These areas require a high‑pile storage permit and compliance with fire code requirements. High‑pile storage increases fire risk, and smoke vents are one of the mandated life‑safety systems designed to control that risk. Smoke vents are a required safety feature for those hazards.

To obtain or renew a high‑pile storage permit, building owners must demonstrate that all required fire protection systems — including smoke vents — are functional. Fire marshals often request smoke vent test reports during high‑pile storage inspections.

Imagine a warehouse storing pallets of plastic goods stacked 20 feet high. In a fire, smoke and heat would quickly accumulate at the ceiling, overwhelming sprinklers and making firefighting dangerous. Smoke vents open automatically or manually by firefighters, releasing that buildup, slowing fire spread, and giving firefighters visibility.
